BAFA®-laid scrims are the “secret” fusions and stabilizers of the world. You find them everywhere, but you are rarely aware of them, as they are mostly invisible. In cars and aircraft seats, in wind energy plants, in packaging and adhesive tapes, in wall- and floor covering, even in table tennis rackets or sailing boats. The use of BAFA®-laid scrims is advantageous if a material must be reinforced, linked, stabilized or kept in shape. This is due to their outstanding characteristics:
They are light and flexible with a high mechanical load capacity.
Their stability is achieved by their structure: Unlike woven fabrics and rectangular scrims, BAFA®-laid scrims consist of diagonally crossed threads. They are fixed with binders at the crossing points. Depending on the number of longitudinal and diagonal threads a more or less open rhombic structure is created. This provides a higher tensile strength in six directions.
The special features of BAFA®-laid scrims are not only the versatile applications, but their variable structures and different materials. In this respect BAFA®-laid scrims can be made of natural fibres, such as cotton, flax or jute and man-made fibres, such as polyamide, glass, viscose, carbon or any other.
Almost every yarn, natural or man-made fibres, is suitable for laid scrims.
Regarding the impregnation of BAFA®-laid scrims, we conform to the requirements of our customers. Whether waterresistant or flameretardant, whether recyclable or decomposable, almost every characteristic can be obtained.
Also in small batch sizes. With regard to the application we choose the suitable material, the indicated construction and density of the unique BAFA®-laid scrim. For an ideal result!
With all the options that we offer we are probably the most specialized laid scrims manufacturer.
