BAFATEX® supplies prepreg manufacturers with BAFA®-laid scrims, featuring high mechanical load capacity, minimum weight, epoxy resin friendly or capable of hot sealing. For optimised fixation of rovings made of carbon or glass fibres that are processed to prepregs which are outstandingly cuttable and punchable.
We supply medium up to high amounts, individually customised at your specifications of material and measures.
Versatile Applicability
Prepreg manufacturers utilise BAFA® laid scrims first of all where strains are extraordinarily high and flexible materials are indispensable:
- Aircrafts (especially wings, fuselage and propellers)
- Helicopters (especially rotor blades)
- Rotor blades of wind turbines
- High performance sailing yachts
- Seat shells (left image: aircraft seats)
- Bulletproof vests
- Motor sports
- Spacecrafts
- Orthesis für orthopaedic support
- Prostheses
- Sports equipment (ski, snowboard, kiteboard, table tennis rackets)
Materials
Depending on which characteristics your product demands, we offer you yarns made of the following materials:
- Carbon fibre
- Fibreglass
- Polyester fibres
- Polyamide fibres
- Aramid fibres
BAFA® laid scrims are capable of hot sealing and epoxy resin friendly. A flame retardant impregnation is available as well.
Processing Within Your Prepregs
BAFA® laid scrims are highly suitable for automated production processes with a high processing speed in „Automated Fibre Placement” (AFP) systems or „Automated Tage Layers“ (ATL). Their excellent cuttability and punchability provides a high build quality.
An impregnation with phenol-, vinyl ester- or epoxy-reaction resins is possible – dependent on the material at temperatures up to 180°C and a pressure of up to 5 bar. With the application of sealable pressure vessels (autoclaves) it is possible to cure high-temperature materials free of air bubbles just at the location of its final processings.
The degree of the surface stickiness (tack) of the scrims can be controlled by your manufacturing process. The storage life of the laid scrims will not be limited before they become impregnated with the catalyst / curing agent.
We will deliver you the laid scrims in coiled widths – on request just-in-time.
Know How and Consulting
As a matter of course we are certified by DIN ISO 9002 (since 1994) to assure a uniform and high quality of our products.
Based on our technical expertise and our experience of decades we would be pleased to consult you about the range of characteristics and processsing technologies of our scrims.
